Much Ado About Nothing, Twelfth Night/On Film
[ send me this paper ]
A 7 page research paper/essay that discusses 2 film adaptations. While there are numerous film adaptations of Shakespeare’s tragedies, the Bard’s comedies have proven to be notoriously difficult to translate successfully to the screen (Crowl 69). However, Kenneth Branagh’s Much Ado About Nothing (1993) and Trevor Nunn’s Twelfth Night (1996) successfully overcome the challenges inherent in a film adaptation of a Shakespearean comedy, as both films were artistically and commercially successful. First of all, these films overcome the problems of translating the plays from the restrictive confines of the stage to the visual options available in film. They also combine aspects of Hollywood storytelling and cinematic technique that are familiar to modern audiences with Shakespeare text and, thereby, imbue the classic plays with fresh energy and postmodern aesthetic. Bibliography lists 2 sources.

Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night": Disguises
[ send me this paper ]
7 pages in length. No one is without a social face; in fact, people often maintain many social faces depending upon the situation or the ultimate objective. When assessing Viola's emotional and mental disguise in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night, the student will want to address such elements as social dictate, gender oppression and the aspect of patriarchal control as they relate to the inherent association to social façade. Twelfth Night / Theme Of Love
[ send me this paper ]
A 3 page essay on the theme of love in Twelfth Night and how it is not particularly selective of gender. Filename: Twellove.wps

Twelfth Night/Societal Expectations
[ send me this paper ]
A 6 page essay that examines certain aspects of Shakespeare's Twelfth Night. The writer argues that on the surface, Viola may seem to be a woman capable of determining her own fate. Stranded in a foreign land, she does not hesitate to assume a male identity in order to acquire employment and relative safety. However, even this intelligent, capable woman is bound by expectations of Elizabethan society. As this suggests, examination of this play shows that each character, in his or her own manner, is bound by the restrictions of society and within these boundaries, which define the context of social life, they have no control over their ultimate fate. Bibliography lists 3 sources.
